Live Free or Die
S5 - Ep 1
Episode #48 in the Breaking Bad catalogue was not the most entertaining hour. However, the purpose of any premier, move the story forward. "Live Free or Die" did exactly that.
The opening was a nod to "Lost" , a flash forward. WW all by himself on his BDay 9-18 months since he successfully plotted & killed Gus Fring. At Denny's he meets a familiar looking man to pick up a Gun?
Most of the progress took place between Walt/Jesse & recruiting Mike onto the team. The mission, capture the lab top with evidence that they were all involved with the chicken man.
Mike, a very unique character, first appeared cleaning up Jane's death in S2 . That is also around the time that Gus's presence was being felt. Since then we learned Mike worked for Gus & was loyal. That created the friction between Walt, who was only loyal to his family. Jesse & Walt's relationship is comparable to Hank & Walt Jr's or the Uncle to a nephew.
The Skyler/Beneke story is hopefully done with. Total Snooze fest! Actually, Anna Gunn was over acting the whole episode.
Bob Odenkirk is in exceptional form as Saul Goodman. "Ethics" was the comment of the episode.
A little disappointed in the junk yard scenes. Under used, played down. Is something more there?
Lastly, We celebrated WW 50th BDay in the S1 premier. Now we are celebrating his 52nd BDay. That is what makes this TV show so unique. The use of time. Fast v Slow, Day v Night.
That brings up 8 questions..
Has the ABQ become too small?
Will they leave the ending so a movie can be made?
Could a movie be made of the Soprano's?
Is Gomez a spy?
Was it the same junkyard in S1?
WTF was up at the beginning of the episode? Beard? Hair? AK? NH?
Will the pace slowly pick up or have we only seen 6 months of Walt's life?
Can Breaking Bad finish on top?
Until next week #jewfromovement...
